There are days when you feel you can move the mountains. Days of high spirits, energy, enthusiasm. And then there are those days when you just can’t move a finger. For whatever reason, you get up sick. Whether a sore throat, a headache, fever or something else you just can’t get out of bed. You try any remedy you can imagine to make you feel better. But If you’re lucky enough, the best remedy will be standing next to you. He’ll be taking the day off just to take care of you, he’ll be making you tea, feeding you, holding your hand and just laying down close to you and cheering you up. He’ll be looking at you with those worried, pretty eyes and suddenly even the fever will go away. It’s being loved that cures every ache.

We people like to build. We build a career, we build a house, we build a life for ourselves. Sometimes we even like to build pedestals. We tend to get enchanted by some people around us, find them amazingly perfect and hurry to place them on these pedestals. We admire their personalities, kindness, strength, success, we might even share the same interests, they’re definitely persons worth admiring. This happens maybe cause at one point or another we all need someone to look up to, some sort of model. The problem is that we assume we know every dimension of them, when the truth is that most of the time we hurry to make false suppositions based on the little pieces that they reveal to us. And people always let only their good sides to be discovered..Eventually the spell breaks and it’s when we realize that in fact they were not that extraordinary-superhuman as we thought they were. We were only enchanted by our own expectations. At the end of the day, if you decide to cherish someone, don’t search for heroes elsewhere. Look right beside you. I worry a lot. I make plans, I stress about having everything perfectly organized, anticipating things and being in control. Well, the truth is that sometimes I’m a little bit of a fool. Not the perfectly planned moments are those that brought me most joy. It’s not the clear road I went on without difficulties that I remember and feel excited to share the memory of. No, clearly not that one. But the one that we drove on with no gps or mobile signal, getting lost with no gas in the middle of nowhere. If I could only remember not to take life too seriously… It’s not always about winning, getting through with no obstacles, wearing the perfect dress or being liked by everybody. Let go, run wild, get lost, get found. The only bags you need to pack are one big smile and an open heart. No plans, no worries .. just enjoy the ride! Stop chasing shadows, just enjoy the ride.

But as we grow older we get greedy. We take things for granted, forget to enjoy the little things, the little wonders that life throws at our feet daily and that we just ignore. We get blinded by the higher goals that we set for ourselves and refuse happiness in the present moment. We postpone it for tomorrow, next year or 3 years from Now. Tomorrow you’re going to be richer, you’re going to have a bigger house, better car, you’ll be happy then. Slow down, stop for a while, look around and find beauty and excitement in the small things. Like you used to do when you were younger. Be forever young at heart and you’ll be forever happy.
