Am intrat in luna dragostei, 14 februarie - Valentine’s Day, 24 Februarie- Dragobetele, asa ca trebuie sa sarbatorim cum se cuvine. Am cautat cateva curiozitati despre aceste zile.

  • In Slovenia un proverb spune ca Sfantul Valentin aduce cheile radacinilor, asa ca pe 14 februarie plantele si florile incep sa creasca
  • In Romania, sarbatoarea traditionala pentru iubiti este Dragobete care este sarbatorit pe 24 februarie. Este numit dupa un personaj din folclorul romanesc care se presupune ca ar fi fiul Babei Dochia. Etimologic, o parte din numele de Dragobete poate fi gasit si în cuvantul romanesc dragoste.
Legenda Sfantului Valentin

Sfantul Valentin, sau Valentin din Terni (latin. Valentinus) este un martir declarat ca sfant al crestinilor romano-catolici, care a trait in secolul III, fiind episcop in Interamna (azi: Terni, Italia).

Dupa legenda el ar fi cununat un pagan cu un crestin sau daruia tinerilor indragostiti flori din gradina lui. A fost invinuit de „cununare religioasa” a perechilor de indragostiti, in ciuda poruncii imparatului roman Claudius II (268-270). De aceea, a fost condamnat la moarte si executat pe 14 februarie 269, din cauza credintei lui.

Azi, Valentin este considerat patronul protector al indragostitilor. In cinstea Sfantului Valentin, indragostitii isi fac cadouri.
